The Big Bands Songbook was compiled and written by George T. Simon. It includes six dozen songs from the big band era, more than half of which have become jazz standards. Arranged for piano, voice, and guitar, this songbook is complemented by two pages of photos and interesting commentary for each song, with a focus on how the song contributed to the successes of these big bands. This is a book worth buying, especially since it is often available at a reasonable used price on Amazon. George T. Simon was one of the original organizers and members of the Glenn Miller Orchestra for which he played the drums. He was also one of the first writers for Metronome Magazine, where he remained from 1935 until 1955. He is the author of The Big Bands and Glenn Miller and His Orchestra.
