This book covers not only all of MGM’s films from 1924-1981 but independent films distributed by MGM. The films are covered in chronological order and the texts contain information on the stars, directors, etc. plus photographs.
This a super coffee table book for film buffs. With regard to jazz standards it covers about the same years (1924-1981) as Clive Hirschhorn’s The Hollywood Musical, but it is not as comprehensive. On the other hand, it covers films of all genres, as long as they are from MGM. The index includes movie and song titles.
John Douglas Eames is also the author of The Paramount Story.
